La producción del lombricompost, a partir de las mazorcas del cacao como productos de desecho en la obtención de granos para producir chocolate, son componentes importantes en la fertilidad del suelo que ayuda a obtener productos alimenticios sanos y orgánicos, que en la actualidad se torna importante en un medio donde el uso excesivo de materiales inorgánicos permite producir alimentos para mercados internacionales los mismo que van exigiendo cada vez mas productos de carácter orgánico. La importancia de este proceso, es el bajo costo de producción con la utilización de materiales y productos del medio donde se cultiva el cacao como fruta. El beneficio de este conocimiento será aquellos productores de cacao a nivel de zonas tropicales como el VRAEM, lugar donde se extrajo las mazorcas de cacao.
