La congregación de las Hermanas Terceras Franciscanas Misionera de la Inmaculada Concepción, surge en 1889 ante la necesidad de educar niñas mapuches en la Araucanía. El apostolado de estas religiosas se inicia con la fundación del Colegio Santa Ana en Angol. El Libro de Música de este centro, conservado actualmente en el Museo de Arte Religioso del Arzobispado de Concepción, viene a ser el objeto principal de estudio de este trabajo. La recuperación del repertorio manuscrito de esta fuente, de la que se desconocía su existencia hasta hace algunos años y que ha permanecido inédita hasta ahora, nos permite tener un acercamiento diferente no solo a la historia de la Orden y de su actividad musical, sino también a su labor educativa realizada entre los años 1889 y 1923, rango temporal de nuestra historia y cultura, sobre el cual falta todavía arrojar muchas luces. 10
