David Smith
You’ve been chasing glory in the sport or business you love. You put in more time and practice to be the absolute best you can be. But what if the chase itself is the trap?Performance identity doesn’t announce itself. It creeps in quietly--through coaches who reward results, crowds who cheer achievement, and a culture that tells athletes their value is something to be earned. Before long, the scoreboard isn’t just a number. It’s who you are.Dave Smith lived this. As an established amateur golfer who qualified for the 2024 US Senior Open, he spent years letting his game define him. In Chasing Glory- While Stuck in the Trap of Performance Identity, he’s done pretending that was okay--and he’s done letting other athletes stay stuck in the same cycle. With honesty, faith, and the hard-won perspective of an athlete who has been to both the mountaintop and the valley, Dave challenges readers to rebuild their identity on something performance can never touch: their standing in Christ. The glory you’ve been chasing was never meant to define you. There’s something better--and this book will show you what it looks like.
